Robert John Brown, a churchgoing family man and respected community member, is arrested for harboring Mexican immigrants without papers in his barn, and while Robert is in jail, his grandson, Dustin, tries to help the only escapee to find his family, and his grandaughter, Misty, struggles to raise her child after her husband, an illegal immigrant, has been deported, which leaves Robert's daughter, Sweet, trying to hold everyone together.
